Stories

My aim is simple: when shooting a documentary photo essay, I want to tell the honest story. It is my opinion that in order to tell a story well, you must get to know the subject of the story well. It’s not a matter of jumping in and sticking a camera in someone’s face. I like to talk to the people I photograph and hear the story from their point of view.

From there, I like to do a little research and familiarize myself with the story so that I can gain some context. I like to ask myself, “why is this story important? Who is it important to? How do I photograph this story in a way that is visually compelling to people who might view it?”

Do you have a story or event that you would like told? Let’s talk about it! I would be honored to tell your story.
